Why a tool or setting can be unavailable even when you have credits

Understand the difference between credit balance and plan access

Written by Runbo (CEO of Magic Hour)

A credit balance pays for generations, but it does not automatically unlock every tool, resolution, upload size, or subscription feature.

Credits and plan access are different

  • Credits determine whether your balance can cover the current generation.

  • Your plan determines which tools and settings are available, including resolution and upload limits.

  • Credit packs add credits and remove watermarks from generations made with those credits, but they do not include other subscription benefits.

This means you can have enough credits while a particular tool or setting remains unavailable on your current plan.

What to check

  1. Open My Plan and confirm the plan shown: Free, Creator, Pro, or Business.

  2. Check your visible credit balance.

  3. Open the tool and review any upgrade message or unavailable setting.

  4. Choose a supported setting or upgrade if the feature requires another plan.

  5. Use the credit estimate shown in the creation screen to confirm that your balance covers the request.

Common situations

I have credits, but a tool is locked.
The tool or selected option may not be included with your current plan. Follow the upgrade message shown in the tool.

I bought a credit pack, but paid features are still locked.
Credit packs add generation balance. They do not replace a Creator, Pro, or Business subscription.

I upgraded, but the account still shows Free.
Refresh the page, sign out and back in, and confirm that you used the same email for payment and sign-in. See I paid or upgraded, but my credits or features are not showing.

I cannot claim daily credits.
Free users can claim 100 credits once per calendar day, up to seven total claims. Active subscribers can claim 100 credits daily while subscribed without a lifetime claim limit.

The generation button is unavailable.
Confirm that required uploads and settings are complete, then check your plan and credit estimate. See Why is my Generate button disabled or greyed out?.
