Understanding the limitations of each Magic Hour tool helps you plan your projects, manage credit usage, and choose the right plan for your needs. This guide covers maximum resolution, output length, frame limits, and credit costs for all tools.

Overview

Each Magic Hour tool has specific limits based on your subscription plan. Limitations include maximum output resolution, video length or frame count, and the credit cost per generation. This article provides a reference table for all tools and detailed specifications for each.

Understanding credit costs

Base credit calculation

Credit costs vary by tool.

Cost multipliers

Tools with higher processing complexity have a a higher cost multiplier:

Pro tip: Before generating, check the credit estimate in the Magic Hour UI. This shows the exact credit cost for your specific settings (resolution, duration, quality options, etc.) before you commit.

Plan-based limitations

Your subscription plan determines the maximum resolution available for each tool. Plans typically include:

  • Free: up to 512x512

  • Creator: up to 1024x1024

  • Pro: up to 1472x1472

  • Business: up to 4096x4096 (4K)

If you attempt to generate an output at a resolution not available on your plan, the tool will either downscale the output or block the generation. Upgrade your plan to access higher resolutions.

Frame and duration limits explained

How frames and duration relate

Video tools work with frames, not just seconds. Duration depends on the frame rate (FPS):

Formula: Duration (seconds) = Frames ÷ Frame Rate (FPS)

For example:

  • Face Swap with a max of 20,000 frames at 30 FPS = ~667 seconds (about 11 minutes)

  • Text-to-Video with a max of 2,000 frames at 30 FPS = ~67 seconds

  • Animation with a max of 10,000 frames at 30 FPS = ~333 seconds (about 5.5 minutes)

Input file limitations

Upload size limits

Maximum file sizes for inputs vary by plan:

  • Free: up to 100 MB

  • Creator: up to 1 GB

  • Pro: up to 2 GB

  • Business: up to 3 GB

Credit balance and insufficient credits

If you attempt to generate content but don't have enough credits in your account, the generation will fail and your credits will not be charged. Check your credit balance before generating, especially for high-credit tools like Video-to-Video or Talking Photo.

Your credit balance is visible in your dashboard. If you run out of credits:

  • Purchase additional credits with a Credit Pack

  • Upgrade to a subscription plan that includes recurring monthly credits

  • Wait for your monthly credit refresh if on a subscription plan

  • Reduce the settings of your generation so it fits under your credits

Subscription plans reset your available credits monthly, giving you predictable monthly credit allowances without worrying about running out between purchases.

Exceeding limitations

What happens if you exceed limits

If you try to generate content that exceeds your plan's limitations:

  • Resolution too high: The tool may downscale your output to the maximum supported resolution, or block the generation and prompt you to reduce your resolution.

  • Duration or frames too long: The tool will prevent generation and show an error message. You must shorten your input or upgrade your plan.

  • Insufficient credits: The generation will not start Purchase more credits or wait for your monthly refresh.

Upgrading to remove limitations

To access higher resolutions or longer durations, upgrade your subscription plan in the Billing section. Your new limits will take effect immediately.
