Tool limitations: resolution, length, and credit costs

Written by Runbo (CEO of Magic Hour)

Overview

Each Magic Hour tool has limits based on your plan and selected settings. These may include output resolution, video or audio length, upload size, and credit cost.

Always check the credit estimate shown in the Magic Hour editor before generating. It is the most accurate price for your selected model, resolution, length, audio, and other options.

Characters

Use Characters to create a reusable person reference for supported image and video tools.

Characters is free to use. Creating, saving, or managing a Character does not have a separate credit cost. Generations use the normal credit cost of the tool where the Character is used.

Each Character can include 1–12 reference photos, with a maximum size of 100 MB per photo.

Understanding Credit Costs

Credit costs vary because different models and settings require different amounts of processing. Higher resolution, longer duration, premium models, additional outputs, and generated audio can increase the cost.

Before generating, check the credit estimate in the editor. This shows the amount that will be charged for your current settings.

Plan-Based Resolution Limits

Your plan determines the highest resolution you can select. The exact resolutions available also depend on the tool and model.

Plan

General Resolution Limit

Free

Up to 576px

Creator

Up to 1024px

Pro

Up to 1472px

Business

Up to 4K on supported tools and models

Some tools and models support lower maximum resolutions. If a setting is unavailable, the editor will show an upgrade prompt or ask you to select another resolution.

Video and Audio Length Limits

Maximum length varies by tool and model. The editor shows the available duration for your current selection. If your input is too long, trim it before generating or select a supported setting.

Pro

5 GB

Business

10 GB

Individual tools may also have format or input-specific limits.

Credit Balance and Insufficient Credits

If you do not have enough credits, the generation will not start and you will not be charged.

If you run out of credits, you can:

  • Purchase additional credits with a Credit Pack

  • Upgrade to a plan that includes more credits

  • Choose a shorter duration, lower resolution, or lower-cost model

Credits never expire. Unused credits from subscriptions and credit packs carry over indefinitely.

What Happens If You Exceed a Limit

Limit

What to Do

Resolution unavailable on your plan

Choose a lower resolution or upgrade your plan

Video or audio is too long

Shorten the input or output, or choose another supported setting

Insufficient credits

The generation will not start; purchase credits or reduce the generation settings

Upload is too large

Compress the file or upgrade for a larger upload limit
