Adjust facial expression, gaze, mouth shape, and head orientation with sliders.
Get the right result: check these first
Upload before adjusting. Add the face image first. Releasing a slider starts an edit; this workflow does not use a separate Generate button for each adjustment.
Wait between edits. An edit already processing blocks another one. Wait for the result before adjusting again; processed edits use credits.
Different goal. Use Face Swap Photo to replace identity or Talking Photo to make a portrait speak. Expression sliders do neither.
Still stuck? Contact support with the tool name, project link or visible ID if available, input image, slider and value, whether an edit is still processing, and a comparison with the result. Keep the project while it is reviewed. How to send useful troubleshooting details.
Step by step
Open AI Face Editor and sign in. Upload the image and wait for it to finish preparing.
Use Face Controls to adjust a small amount of one setting, such as Mouth Smile or Eye Gaze Horizontal. On mobile, the controls open in a drawer.
Release the slider to request the edit. The current editor processes slider changes rather than using the usual Generate button.
Wait for that edit to complete before changing more settings. Compare the generated result with the original.
Use the completed result’s download control. Use Reset to return the controls to their defaults or Upload New Image to start from another photo.
Edits use credits
A processed slider edit uses credits. Make deliberate adjustments and wait for the result rather than repeatedly dragging every control. The displayed “frame per edit” is a credit label, not a promise to animate a video.
Avoid distorted expressions
Start with small adjustments. Strong gaze, mouth, or head changes can look unnatural, especially when the original face is obstructed or strongly angled. Enhance Face is optional.
Choose the right face tool
Use Face Swap Photo to replace identity, Image Enhancer for overall retouching, and Talking Photo to animate a portrait with speech.
If a job is still processing or failed
For a job still processing, check its status before submitting again. For a failed or technically broken output, see generation failures and credits.
