How to upgrade or downgrade your plan

How to upgrade or downgrade your plan

Written by Runbo (CEO of Magic Hour)

Overview

You can change your subscription plan at any time to better match your content creation needs.

Prerequisites

  • An active Magic Hour account

  • At least one paid subscription or upgrade access

Before You Begin

When you downgrade, your new plan's features and credit allocation take effect at the end of your billing period. Your unused credits carry over forever — you never lose them. You'll lose access to your current subscription's higher-tier features (resolution, watermark removal, etc.) at the end of your billing period.

Upgrade Your Plan

From Free to a Paid Plan

  1. Sign in to your Magic Hour account.

  2. Select the plan you want to upgrade to (Creator, Pro, or Business).

  3. Choose your billing frequency: Monthly or Yearly (yearly saves 33%).

  4. Review the plan details and click Subscribe.

  5. Enter or confirm your payment information and complete the purchase.

Expected result: Your subscription updates immediately. Your new credit allowance and features become available right away.

Between Paid Plans (Creator → Pro → Business)

  1. Sign in and navigate to magichour.ai/pricing — or go to My Plan, click the "..." menu, and select Change plan.

  2. Choose your new (higher) plan.

  3. Review the price and confirm.

  4. You'll have the option to upgrade immediately (billing cycle resets) or upgrade at the end of your current billing cycle (no charge until then).

Expected result: Your new plan and features are activated based on the timing option you chose.

Pro tip: Switch to yearly billing and save 33% — equivalent to 4 months' worth of payments. On My Plan, you'll see a "Switch to Yearly" button if you're currently on a monthly plan.

Downgrade Your Plan

From a Paid Plan to Free

  1. Sign in and go to My Plan.

  2. On the Current Plan card, click the "..." (three-dot menu).

  3. Select Cancel subscription and go through the cancellation flow.

Expected result: Your downgrade takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle. Unused credits carry over permanently.

Between Paid Plans (e.g., Pro → Creator)

  1. Sign in and go to magichour.ai/pricing — or go to My Plan, click the "..." menu, and select Change plan.

  2. Choose the lower plan.

  3. Confirm the change.

Expected result: The downgrade takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle.

Verify the Change

  1. Visit My Plan and confirm your new plan is reflected on the Current Plan card.

  2. Check your credit balance in the top-right corner of the dashboard.

  3. Look for a confirmation email from Magic Hour detailing your plan change.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I upgrade mid-cycle? If you choose to upgrade immediately, your billing cycle resets and your new plan starts right away. If you choose to upgrade at the end of your current billing cycle, nothing changes until then.

Can I switch between monthly and yearly billing? Yes. On My Plan, you'll see a "Switch to Yearly" option if you're on a monthly plan. Switching to yearly saves 33%.

What if I downgrade and then want to upgrade again? You can upgrade or downgrade as many times as you need. Each change takes effect according to your billing cycle.

What happens to my credits when I change plans? Your unused credits never expire and always carry over. When your new plan's billing date arrives, your account receives the new plan's credit allocation on top of any credits you already have.
